Woman fatally shot at ‘large late‑night car meet’ in industrial park, CMPD says
A woman has died two days after being shot at a gathering of car enthusiasts in west Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

It happened Saturday “during a large late‑night car meet” in the Air Park West industrial park, near the intersection of Interstates 85 and 485.
“Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 8800 block of Air Park West Drive (and) located a victim who sustained an apparent gunshot wound,” CMPD said in an Aug. 11 news release.
“MEDIC transported the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Monday, Aug. 10, the victim, Britany Hill, 34, succumbed to her injuries.”

Details of a suspect and motive have not released.
Car meets are “an informal gathering of car enthusiasts who come together to showcase their vehicles, share experiences, and connect with like-minded individuals,” according to Rideology.com. “It typically takes place in parking lots, parks, or other open spaces,” the site says.
