The Alabama-based chicken chain welcomed customers to its new spot on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 8462 Charlotte Hwy., in Indian Land, South Carolina, according to social media posts.
It marks Guthrie’s second Charlotte-area restaurant; the other is in Monroe. The brand also has existing locations in Raleigh, Hickory and Jacksonville, which opened in late May.
“Whether a customer grew up eating Guthrie’s every Friday night or it’s their first time trying our golden-fried chicken fingers, we hope that they are just as excited as we are for Guthrie’s to expand further into the Carolinas,” Tom Carr, president and CEO of Guthrie’s Franchising, said in a news release at the time.
CharlotteFive reached out to the chain for more information on Tuesday and was awaiting a response.

Touted as “the original chicken finger restaurant,” Guthrie’s launched in 1965 and later built its menu entirely around the popular finger food. The limited lineup includes hand-breaded tenders, coleslaw, crinkle fries and buttery toast.
And don’t forget Guthrie’s signature dipping sauce, “a quintessential favorite.”
The chicken finger-only restaurant has spawned similar concepts like Raising Cane’s, which opened its fourth South Carolina restaurant in Rock Hill in February, the Rock Hill Herald reported.
Southern chicken chain Zaxby’s has a strong presence in the Charlotte region, but offers a much broader menu of bone-in wings, wraps, “zalads,” shakes and more.
It’s not clear if Guthrie’s has plans to open additional area restaurants this year.
