Vote for The Observer’s high school football offensive player of the week
Here are the nominees for The Observer’s boys’ high school football offensive player of the week after Week 5 of the season. Nominees come from games played from Sept. 18-19.

Gavin Bronikowski, Providence Day: Chargers’ QB played in place of injured starter Cole Cater in a 17-14 win over NCISAA state title contender Rabun Gap (GA) on the road. Bronikowski was 13 of 25 for 198 yards and a touchdown.
Ashton Chavis, AL Brown: In a 52-14 win over Harding, Chavis, a 5-8, 160-pound junior, caught six passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns.
Nathan Dowdy, Hickory Grove: In a win over Buford (SC) last week, Dowdy ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns. He had two 2-point conversions and caught three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown.
Carter Eberhart, SouthLake Christian: Eberhart caught eight passes for 138 yards and two scores in a 41-14 win over Tri-Cities Christian.
Kam Guy, Chambers: In a 57-20 win at Ardrey Kell, Guy had four catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Dillon Hill, Palisades: Hill caught nine passes for 169 yards and a touchdown in a 41-12 win over Independence. Hill also had a two-point conversion.
Jayden Huff, West Mecklenburg: In a 33-28 loss to Lake Wylie (SC), Huff ran 30 times for a school-record 312 yards and four touchdowns.
Hudson Irwin, Northwest Cabarrus: In a 33-28 win over South Rowan, Irwin completed 18 of 24 passes for 303 yards and four touchdowns.
Ezekiel Kelly, Ambassador Christian: The 5-foot-9, 190-pound senior ran 12 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-14 win over Harrell’s Christian. He caught three passes for 66 yards. Ambassador (5-0) has beaten five teams from five states this season (South Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina).
Rashad Lynch, Lincolnton: The 5-8, 155-pound senior QB was 13 of 18 for 293 yards and five touchdowns in a 48-6 win over East Gaston. He threw scoring passes to three different receivers.
Makhi Massey, Forest Hills: The junior QB and reigning Charlotte Observer offensive player of the week, led Forest Hills to a 4-0 start and a 27-26 win over Hoke County Friday. The 6-3, 165-pound junior was 18 for 30 for 230 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed seven times for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Maurice Miller, Jay M Robinson: In a 35-0 win over East Rowan, Miller ran 12 times for 125 yards and four touchdowns.
Tyler Myers, Mooresville: In a 33-29 win over then-NC top 25 East Forsyth, Myers had six catches for 110 yards and two rushes for 17 yards and a score. Mooresville (1-4) got its first win of the season.

Cailan Napier, Mallard Creek: In a 38-0 win at McCallie (TN), Napier completed 12 of 19 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown. He ran 12 times for 94 yards and another score.
Zachariah Peebles, Garinger: In a 15-14 win over Rocky River, Peebles caught three passes for 77 yards and a score. He also had 96 kickoff return. Garinger secured its first two-win season since 2018.
Kaveaun Pless, South Point: In a 38-27 win over Ashbrook, the 5-9, 200-pound junior ran 33 times for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
Bryson Pohlman, Lake Norman: In a 31-24 win at previously unbeaten Reagan, then a top 10 team in NC, Pohlman, a junior, ran 20 times for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Chase Sarver, Pine Lake Prep: In a 37-6 win over North Iredell, the senior QB completed 8 of 14 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns He ran for another score.
Cameron Simpson, Corvian Community: Simpson had 10 catches for 161 yards and a touchdown, plus a 85-yard punt return for a touchdown in last week’s 33-14 win over Lake Norman Charter.
Camden Stillwell, Stuart Cramer: In a 57-3 win over Highland Tech, the sophomore QB was 6 of 10 for 101 yards and three touchdowns.
Damourion Thomas-Wright, Butler: In a 35-28 win over Providence, Thomas-Wright ran 27 times for 222 yards two touchdowns. In two previous games, coming back from injury, Wright had 38 carries for 106 yards.
Samuel Willi, Metrolina Christian: The senior QB was 7 of 14 for 109 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-6 win over Covenant Day.
Tyler Willis, East Mecklenburg: In a 15-14 win over South Mecklenburg, Willis ran 25 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. His 50-yard run late in the fourth quarter was the game-winner.
