Here are the nominees for The Observer’s’ high school athlete of the week. Nominees come from games played from Sept. 14-19.

Trysta Carter-McCain, North Mecklenburg volleyball: The sophomore outside hitter had 34 kills last week in two games — 3-0 win over Chambers and a 3-1 loss to Independence. McCain also had 15 digs and five aces.
Graham Collum, Hough cross-country: Collum won the Clover Classic Eagles Nest Invitational last week in a time of 15 minutes, 47 seconds.
Chris Driscoll, West Lincoln soccer: In two games last week, the goalie had 34 saves. He allowed no goals in a 5-0 win over South Caldwell. In a 3-2 over East Gaston, has 12 saves on 14 shots and allowed no goals in the second half.
Elizabeth Guthrie, Charlotte Catholic golf: On Sept. 14, Guthrie shot an 8-under-par 63 at the Carmel Country Club North Course to win the 54-player Carmel Invitational. She made eight birdies and an eagle. On Sept. 16, she won the North State High School Challenge at Keith Hills Golf Club, finishing first in a field of 91 golfers. She shot 7-under-64 with 10 birdies. Guthrie’s 9-hole average this is season is 31.6 and the defending NCHSAA 6A state champ has finished first in every match she’s participated in this season.
Quinn Haynes, Ambassador Christian volleyball: Haines, a junior setter, had 131 assists last week, averaging 9.4 per set. She also had nine aces and 18 digs. She has 507 assists this season.
Maddy Hamilton, Mooresville volleyball: The senior middle blocker played in two matches last week. She had 24 kills, five digs, three aces and two blocks. Hamilton had a .396 kill percentage last week. For the season, she has 106 kills, 44 blocks, 33 aces, 77 digs and nine assists for the Blue Devils (12-7).
Shae Marshall, Butler flag football: The senior had 65 yards receiving and a touchdown against Myers Park last week. On defense, she intercepted three passes and returned them all for touchdowns.

Sloan McKinney, East Lincoln: McKinney, a freshman, finished first in a Western Foothills conference match at Catawba Country Club last week, shooting a 1-under-par 35 in 9-hole match. McKinney is the No. 2 ranked 5A golfer in the state behind teammate Kennedy Gallentine, who is a sophomore. As a team, East Lincoln is ranked No. 1 statewide in 5A.
Sanaa Mohammed, Charlotte Country Day volleyball: The senior outside hitter had 45 kills, 28 digs, two aces and a block in two games last week. She also record her 1,000th kill in a match with rival Charlotte Latin.
Sarah Ott, Myers Park field hockey: Ott, a senior midfielder and captain, scored two goals and had two assists last week in three games. Myers Park is 9-2 this season.
Charleigh Raniszeski, Providence Day field hockey: Raniszeski, a sophomore forward/midfielder, had four goals an assist in four wins last week — 6-0 over South Meck, 2-0 over Marvin Ridge, 2-0 over Ravenscroft and 6-0 over Cary Academy. The Chargers are 10-3 through Sunday.
Bailey Wallace, Mountain Island Charter flag football: The senior captain and running back/rusher had two rushing touchdowns, two sacks and a safety against The College Prep & Leadership Academy.
