The restaurateur and wife of NBA champion Stephen Curry is set to star in a new movie. She will play the lead role in “Second Chance Holiday,” which is making its debut later this year, the streaming platform Roku wrote July 20 in a news release.

It’s a rom-com, so of course it’s silly and playful,” Ayesha Curry told The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s fine. But for me, it was my first No. 1 on the call sheet for a movie.”

Here’s what we know about Ayesha Curry’s new North Carolina restaurants and upcoming holiday movie.

Ayesha Curry, 37, was born in Canada and moved to Charlotte when she was young. She eventually met Stephen Curry, cementing their future status as a hometown power couple, according to IMDb and the Food Network.

In the Queen City, the married couple has been working with chef Michael Mina to launch three restaurants. Sweet July Cafe — a destination for coffee, treats, sandwiches and salads — opened this month at The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte.

The luxury hotel also plans to welcome the two other restaurants from the group. Bourbon Steak and The Eighth Rule are both expected to open in late 2026, CharlotteFive previously reported.

Outside the food realm, Ayesha Curry has taken on roles in films. Recently, she appeared with Lindsay Lohan in “The Irish Wish” and was a voice actor for the animated movie “Goat.”

Now, Ayesha Curry is the main character in “Second Chance Holiday.” She first pursued acting as a teenager and said leading the movie is a dream come true, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I love acting so much, whether it’s in the theater or on film,” Ayesha Curry told the news outlet. “But now I have the bug. I’m like, ‘What are we going to do next?’”

“In ‘Second Chance Holiday,’ dating expert Chelsey (Ayesha Curry) is determined to break her so-called ‘curse’ of always getting dumped during the holiday season,” Roku wrote in its release. “But when fate reunites her with her high school flame (Matthew Daddario), she wonders if her bad luck might just be the universe’s way of leading her back to her first love.”

The movie will premiere on The Roku Channel around Christmas. As of Wednesday, July 29, a spokesperson for the streaming service didn’t have an exact release date to share with The News & Observer via email.

“There’s something truly magical about holiday rom-coms,” Ayesha Curry told Roku. “They invite you into these charming, cozy worlds where anything feels possible. Chelsey is such a fun, heartfelt character that I fell in love with while bringing her to life.”

The N&O reached out to Ayesha Curry’s representatives for more information and is awaiting responses.
