17-year-old killed when motorcycle is hit by 2 cars on I-85, highway patrol say
A 17-year-old was killed when a motorcycle was struck by two speeding vehicles on Interstate 85 in northeast Charlotte, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

In all, four vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday near the Sugar Creek Road exit, investigators say.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that a Mercedes, Audi, Hyundai and a motorcycle were traveling south on I-85. The Mercedes and Audi were traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with the motorcycle and Hyundai,” Master Trooper Robert A. Rogers said in a July 27 news release.

“The operator of the motorcycle was ejected and deceased as a result of the collision. The driver of the Mercedes was transported to Atrium Main with minor injuries. The driver of the Audi and Hyundai refused medical treatment.”
The motorcyclist has been identified as Alex Rodriguez of Charlotte, officials said.
