Here are the nominees for The Observer’s high school athlete of the week, for competition through Saturday, Sept. 5.

Jeremiah Archie, West Mecklenburg boys’ cross-country: Archie, a sophomore, finished second at the Warrior Invitational on Sept. 3, running a time of 20:34.24. It was his first meet of the season.
Ethan Blanton, Metrolina Christian soccer: Blanton, a sophomore, had three goals and an assist in a 4-2 win over Rocky River Sept. 1. On Sept. 3, he had both goals in a 2-0 win over Queen’s Grant. Blanton has six goals and three assists for Metrolina Christian through its first five games. The team’s 3-1-1 start is its best since 2008.
Zeke Bugenske, Covenant Day soccer: Bugenske had seven saves at goalie and kept a clean sheet in a 5-0 win against Charlotte Christian last week. He also five saves and a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Ravenscroft and eight saves in a 2-1 win over Durham Academy. Covenant Day is 5-1 in its first six games.
Rogan Crenshaw, Charlotte Catholic soccer: Crenshaw, a senior forward, had two goals and an assist in a 4-2 come-from-behind win over Providence last week. He scored the Cougars first goal when Catholic was down 2-0. He had an assist on the tying goal. Finally, his second half goal gave the Cougars a two-score cushion. Charlotte Catholic is ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps national poll, a spot its girls’ team held for parts of the spring season.
Caitlyn Frisch, Lake Norman Charter golf: Frisch played in a pair of 9-hole matches last week. She co-medaled at Mooresville Golf Club, with a round of 1-under-35 that featured three straight birdies. She followed that up as medalist at a match at Skybrook Golf Course, where she shot a 2-under 34. She had four birdies in that match and has helped her team to a 5-0 start.
Chloe Hoover, Mooresville volleyball: Hoover, a senior, had 21 kills, five digs and four blocks in two matches last week, a 3-0 win over Maiden and a 3-2 win over Alexander Central. Through 14 matches, she has 81 kills, 19 digs, 19 blocks, four assists and an ace for an 8-6 team.
Lila Jones, Covenant Day volleyball: An outside hitter/middle blocker, Jones had 10 kills, eight digs and two blocks in a 3-0 win over Union Academy Sept. 2.

Natasha Price, Lake Norman volleyball: The sophomore had an ace, 18 kills, 31 digs and four blocks in matches against Reagan and North Lincoln last week. For the season, she leads the team with 102 kills, 116 digs, 13 blocks and eight aces.
Ada Savage, Myers Park field hockey: Savage is a senior forward and an American University commit. She had four goals in a 5-0 conference win against South Mecklenburg last week. It was Myers Park’s only game of the week.
Harper Schwartz, Charlotte Country Day cross-country: A senior, Schwartz placed sixth out of 378 runners in the International Division at the Eye Opener meet in Spartanburg Saturday. She finished the 5K in a time of 19:02.37 and helped her team to a 10th place finish out of 43 teams.
Victoria Simons, Marvin Ridge volleyball: Simons, an outside hitter, had 31 kills in 79 attempts in wins over Ardrey Kell (3-2) and Weddington (3-0) last week. She also had 22 digs, six blocks and a 90 percent serve percentage.
