Tryon Medical Partners expands outside Mecklenburg, this time to a new county
Tryon Medical Partners expanded into Union County with a new office in Waxhaw, the independent medical practice announced Tuesday.

The 4,800-square-foot space is Tryon Medical Partners’s first location in the Charlotte suburb. It now has 15 locations in the region, according to its website. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at the site, at 1621 S. Providence Road, Suite 370.
The cost of the expansion was not disclosed. It’s the first Union County location for the practice.
Tryon Medical Partners opened the office to bring care closer to home for Union County residents, according to the practice, which also operates facilities in Mecklenburg and Gaston counties. The new office in Union County is the latest step in the independent practice’s growth across the Charlotte region.
Tryon Medical Partners Waxhaw will offer internal medicine services, led by Dr. Luis Bendezu. He provides care to help patients with preventive medicine, hypertension, cholesterol management, and chronic disease management, according to a news release from the practice. Bendezu will be supported by advanced care practitioner Sydney Foley.

Both are accepting new patients, according to Tryon Medical Partners.
In 2018, Tryon Medical Partners got its start with 88 doctors and 115,000 patients, the Observer previously reported.
Tryon Medical Partners was founded by about 90 physicians who splintered off from Atrium Health, following a 2018 lawsuit accusing the hospital system of monopolizing healthcare and discouraging competition. The case was eventually dropped.
The practice now has more than 100 doctors, serving about 200,000 patients.
The physicians practice internal medicine, family medicine, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology and sexual health, rheumatology, sleep medicine and primary care sports medicine.
