Severe storms with damaging winds threaten Charlotte and the mountains, NWS says
Strong to severe storms with damaging winds threaten the Charlotte area, the mountains and Upstate South Carolina through the evening Saturday, National Weather Service meteorologists said.

“Multiple rounds of storms possible,” NWS forecasters said on social media site X.
Two rounds of storms are expected, the first from 3 to 7 p.m. and the second from 10 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the NWS office in Greer, S.C.
“The best chance of severe weather is this afternoon across the mountains down to the Upper Savannah Valley” in Georgia, NWS meteorologists said on X.
Storms would develop on an otherwise sunny day in Charlotte with the expected high finally falling below 90, the forecast showed. Charlotte has experienced continual days this summer with dangerous heat indexes above 100.
Charlotte can expect highs around 88 on Saturday, 89 on Sunday and 90 on Monday under mostly sunny skies, according to the NWS forecast.

As showers and possible thunderstorms move into the region again, Tuesday could see a high of only 80, Wednesday 70, Thursday 73 and Friday 75.
Rock Hill can expect the same weather pattern, with highs of 89 on Saturday, 90 on Sunday, 91 on Monday, 82 on Tuesday, 72 on Wednesday, 75 on Thursday and 77 on Friday.
The unstable, wet weather system should move from the area by Thursday, according to the NWS.
