The rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh. The N.C. Super 25 poll ranks the top teams in the state regardless of classification. And the media companies also sponsor a ranking of teams in each of the state’s eight classifications, plus two additional polls for the state’s private schools.
In the Super 25 poll, there are two new teams: Kings Mountain and Cleveland. Kings Mountain (5-1) has won five in a row since a season-opening 28-21 loss to Shelby. Cleveland beat Fuquay-Varina 49-7 Friday, continuing a season where the Rams are averaging 43.5 points per game.
In the class-by-class rankings, there are six new teams in the 10 polls this week. There are two new No. 1 teams as well.

In 4A, West Iredell (6-0) jumped three spots to No. 1 after beating 5A top 10 East Lincoln, 42-38 Friday. Previous No. 1 Hibriten (6-0) dropped one spot.
