Man violated his domestic violence order, fired at police in University City: CMPD
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a shooting involving an officer Tuesday afternoon in the University City area near Harrisburg, a CMPD alert stated.

The shooting occurred in a neighborhood of single-family homes in the 4200 block of Autumn Frost Trail, CMPD said.
CMPD set up tents in front of some homes, and a gray CMPD van was parked nearby.
The suspect was a man who violated a domestic violence protection order, CMPD Chief Estella Patterson said at the scene.
A woman called police saying she was worried he was going to harm her with a gun, Patterson said. She went to a nearby business to wait for police.

When police met the man, he fired at them, Patterson said at a news conference. Police fired back and hit the man, she said. He was hospitalized in critical condition.
Four officers were also taken to the hospital as a precaution, but none were injured, Patterson said.
Some nearby property was hit by gunfire from the suspect, but no one was injured, police said.
