Flooding possible as storms ‘repeatedly move over the same areas,’ forecasters say
Isolated flooding is possible in the Charlotte region Wednesday night through Friday as a slow moving cold front ignites three days of relentless rain, the National Weather Service says.

The “moist and unstable” front will settle over the area Wednesday afternoon, resulting in rain chances of 70% to 90% through Saturday night, forecasters say.
“Several rounds of thunderstorms will cross the area (Wednesday) and Thursday. This could lead to heavy rainfall and isolated flooding. An isolated severe thunderstorm is also possible with damaging winds the main threat,” the NWS reported Wednesday morning.

“The storms may repeatedly move over the same areas both days.”
Wind gusts near 30 mph are possible Wednesday, accompanied by cooler temperatures that will drop lows to around 70 degrees through early next week, forecasters say.
The heaviest rain will fall along the stalled frontal boundary, with more than 2 inches possible in some areas, creating a risk for flash flooding, forecasters say.

Skies will begin to clear on Sunday, and warmer temperatures will return.
