Fatal stabbing at apartment discovered after neighbor calls 911, CMPD says
A fatal stabbing at a northeast Charlotte apartment community was discovered after one of the neighbors called 911, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

The victim has been identified as 38-year-old John Joseph Perry, and a suspect is in custody, CMPD said in a Sept 26 news release.
It happened around 7:15 p.m. Saturday in the 4900 block of Round Pond Road at the Zora University apartments.
“The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by the Charlotte Fire Department,” CMPD officials said. “This individual had sustained multiple stab wounds.”

CMPD Major Brad Koch reports a second person at the scene was taken to a hospital as a “precautionary measure,” and that man has since been named a suspect.
Baron Deshawn Crawford, 31, is charged with first degree murder, CMPD said. He is being held without bond, records show.
Crawford lives at an apartment in the 4900 block of Round Pond Road, according to court documents.
