Bar Fly has officially landed, offering craft cocktails, light bites, music and dance parties in an “immersive, welcoming space” on the rooftop deck at Room Service, according to a news release sent to CharlotteFive.
The pop-up concept from owner Rachel Hopkins launched Friday, Aug. 28, with a “Queer Icon Dance Party.” It was the first of many special events to be hosted at the new bar, which will run on weekends through September.
“I want it to be the kind of place where people can let loose and create lasting memories,” said Hopkins, who’s also behind cocktail caterer Black Moth Bars.
She teamed up with Jackie DeLoach of Hattie’s Tap & Tavern in Plaza Midwood on the new project. So what’s on the menu?
Bar Fly will serve some of the same cocktail offerings from Room Service, plus wine, beer, sangria and a rotating menu of slushies. On the food side, customers can expect light, but flavorful options like balsamic caramelized onion dip, marinated olives and Cajun boiled peanuts.

The bar will also host special activations throughout its run. Think: karaoke, movie nights and bingo.
It’s just the latest concept to find a home at Camp North End, where Hopkins got her start as a cocktail vendor, according to the release. In 2020, she opened Black Moth Bars in an Airstream trailer in the development’s Boileryard district before launching Room Service just three years later.
“Camp North End has been home to my businesses for years, and I’m excited to bring a fresh, exciting new experience that gives people another reason to gather here as the summer winds down and we head into fall,” Hopkins said.
The mixed-use development features a diverse lineup of other restaurants, including:
Bar Fly will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. until midnight, and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
