American Airlines flights delayed, canceled at CLT Airport after systemwide outage
American Airlines passengers in Charlotte experienced delays and cancellations on Tuesday evening as the airline experienced a now-resolved systemwide outage.

“Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again,” American Airlines posted on X. Connectivity for the impacted systems has been fully restored, American Airlines said in statement to The Charlotte Observer.
At about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, tracking site flightaware.com said average arrival delays for airborne aircraft was 46 minutes and decreasing, while average departure delays were 83 minutes and decreasing.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop advisory for American Airlines flights departing from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The FAA appeared to briefly lift the advisory for CLT Airport, but a ground stop was again in place as of 8:20 p.m., according to its website.
The FAA issued similar stops for airports across the country.
Passengers in Charlotte may still experience delays and cancellations caused by the disruption along with severe weather in the area, according to a CLT Airport spokesperson.

“Travelers are encouraged to check directly with their airline for the latest flight information,” the CLT Airport spokesperson said in a statement.
American Airlines has a major hub at CLT Airport and accounts for about 90% of all flights there.
The airline apologized to customers and acknowledged American Airlines employees for quickly restoring the systems in its Tuesday evening statement.
