Team behind Harp and Crown opens doors on new Lake Norman cocktail lounge
There’s a moody new cocktail lounge near Lake Norman serving “refined” whiskey, wines and other sips.

The Alleyway in Cornelius is still in its soft opening phase but will mark its official grand opening on Thursday, Oct. 1, co-owner Mary Maiorino told CharlotteFive.
She described it as a “craft cocktail bar with a European vintage feel.”
“We aren’t really focusing on food right now but that’ll be in the future,” Maiorino said. “We are going to be focusing on jazz music and have our whole lineup ready for October.”
“We are thrilled to finally be open.”
The lounge is next to Harp and Crown LKN, also owned by Maiorina and her husband. The couple took ownership of the neighboring space about 16 months ago, she said.

Pastry chef Kelli Marks and her husband, Tony, previously ran the English and Irish pub, CharlotteFive reported. The menu features staples like bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie and the crowd favorite fish and chips, featuring Harp beer-battered cod.
Unlike its sister concept, The Alleyway will prioritize drinks — for now. A full food menu will come later, Maiorina told CharlotteFive. In the meantime, customers will find a varied menu of craft cocktails, fine wines and whiskey.
Rum cocktails are available, as are gin, tequila/mezcal and vodka creations. There’s even a dessert cocktail, Irish Silk, made with Basil Hayden Toast bourbon, coffee, Bailey’s Irish Cream and house-made banana demerara syrup.

The Alleyway is open Tuesday-Saturday from 5 p.m. until midnight.
