Bruised 4-year-old was thrown or kicked into a wall at daycare, NC warrant says
Four people linked to a North Carolina daycare are facing charges after a 4-year-old was left bruised during an encounter with a teacher, according to investigators.

The incident happened Aug. 17 at Childcare Network in Maiden, and involved a teacher “throwing or kicking the victim who is 4 years of age into a wall,” according to a Catawba County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant.
“It (impact) was hard enough to leave a knot on the victim’s head and bruising to the bottom/back area,” the warrant states.
Gabrielle Cierra-Ann Dowdy, 25, “was employed as a teacher at Childcare Network at the time of the incident” and has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse and assault on a child under 12, court documents report. She was arrested Aug. 19 and released on $11,000 bond, officials said.

The incident was not reported until Aug. 17, which led to three additional Childcare Network employees being charged, the sheriff’s office said.
The daycare’s then Assistant Director Mialynn Diane McDole, Childcare Network District Manager Lindsey Blair Garner and teacher Jennifer Leigh Beal are charged with failure to report a crime against a juvenile and failure to report juvenile abuse, the sheriff’s office said.
