7 dogs attack Charlotte woman. Three people hurt trying to help her, officials say
Seven dogs surrounded and attacked a Charlotte woman standing in her yard, and three additional people were hurt while trying to help her, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Keeneland subdivision between Interstate 485 and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road.
“Seven dogs, described as pit bull-type dogs, were involved in the incident. All seven dogs have now been accounted for. Six were captured alive by ACC, and one is deceased,” Animal Care and Control reported in an Aug. 26 news release.
“Preliminary information indicates that a woman was outside her home when the seven dogs entered her yard and began attacking her. Three additional people were reportedly injured while responding to the incident.”
Details of their injuries were not released, but the attack was described as “serious.”

One of dogs was fatally shot by a Mecklenburg County sheriff’s deputy, and its carcass will be submitted for a necropsy and rabies testing, officials said. Another was “tased” and captured alive.
None of the dogs had identification or detectable microchips on them, officials said. Animal Care and Control officers are canvassing the area in an effort to determine who owns them.
