The two right lanes of the southbound interstate will close at 7 p.m. Sunday from mile markers 81.5 to 83. The South Carolina Department of Transportation contracted with Reeves Construction to patch the interstate bridges over Cherry and Celanese roads.
The closures are expected to continue until 2 p.m. on Aug. 5.
Similar closures are expected weekly over the next few months, according to the transportation department.

The closures are at Exit 82, one of the busiest traffic spots in York County. That interchange, where Cherry and Celanese meet the interstate, is set to be upgraded with changes that could cost more than $100 million, but plans are still in design.
Closures stretch almost to Palmetto Research Park off Palmetto Parkway.
