These uptown Charlotte streets will close for July 4 bash. Here’s when, where.
Busy streets and intersections will be closed in uptown Charlotte Saturday for the city’s “Stars and Stripes Spectacular” Fourth of July bash at Truist Field, police said.

The celebration will feature the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and WBT’s annual SkyShow fireworks display. The fireworks show is the largest in the Southeast, organizers said when they announced the event in April.
These streets will be closed beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department:
• South Mint Street from West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to West Trade Street.
• West Fourth Street from South Poplar Street to South Graham Street.
The streets will reopen by 12:30 a.m., Sunday, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management officials urged visitors to such large gatherings to be prepared.
“Stay aware of your surroundings,” agency officials posted on social media site X Saturday morning. “Large celebrations can get crowded, so have a meeting spot, keep an eye on your group, and report emergencies by calling 911.”

And Mecklenburg EMS issued this general advice:
“Stay hydrated in the heat and let the pros handle the fireworks (this is not the year to lose a finger).”
A heat advisory will be in effect for the Charlotte region from noon to 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” NWS meteorologists said in an alert.
“Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing,” the NWS advised. “Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.”
