The law group surveyed more than 3,000 drivers to identify the most stressful off ramps in America. The group was surveyed in April 2026, and asked to choose from a selected list of frequently used exits and junctions. The group chose to survey instead of compiling data on crash rates to measure the experience of drivers, according to the report.
The report highlighted these four North Carolina roads:
“Traffic along this stretch of I-77 often tightens as drivers prepare to enter one of Charlotte’s busiest corridors. Vehicles leaving the interstate encounter signals positioned close to the end of the ramp and steady turning traffic,” the report says.
“During peak daytime travel, cars begin stacking and speeds drop. Drivers frequently slow earlier than expected as the ramp fills. The transition from freeway speed to local streets happens quickly, and movement compresses as vehicles line up for the intersection.”
