Pitchfork attack leaves woman with multiple stab wounds, NC sheriff says
A woman found with multiple stab wounds at a rural home had been attacked by a man wielding a pitchfork, according to North Carolina investigators.

It happened on July 20 at a home on Laboratory Road in south Lincolnton, and the woman survived. Lincolnton is about a 40-mile drive northwest from uptown Charlotte.
“Deputies … responded to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim suffering from several stab wounds caused by a pitchfork,” the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said in a 27 news release.
“The victim was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where she received treatment.”

Details of her condition have not been released. Pitchforks have up to six prongs, averaging 10 to 15 inches in length.
Nicholas Andrew Tompkins, 29, was identified as a suspect and arrested the next day, officials said. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, the sheriff’s office says. Court records show he lives in the area where the attack was reported.
