NoDa’s newest cocktail lounge goes from day to night. When does it open?

NoDa favorite The Goodyear House is growing its footprint with the opening of a new coffee and cocktail bar — and it’s just steps from the beloved restaurant.

Goodyear Bar officially opens Thursday, Aug. 27, offering specialty coffees and espresso by day and craft cocktails after dark, according to a news release sent to CharlotteFive.

Nestled just next door at 3024 N. Davidson St., the space will be an extension of the restaurant. The menu will also feature light bites from The Goodyear House’s seasonal menu.

“There’s something special about having a place that can evolve with you throughout the day,” Chris Coleman, executive chef and partner of The Goodyear House, said in the release.

“You can come in for coffee in the morning, stay for lunch, meet friends for a drink in the afternoon and come back for dinner or a late-night cocktail. We’re creating more room for all of those moments.”

The concept marks a new chapter for the neighborhood eatery but signals the end for another. Chief’s Modern Cocktail Parlor will close its doors next week, with Goodyear Bar set to take its place.

Chief’s made its NoDa debut in early 2025 as an ode to beverage director Bob Peters’s late father, lovingly known as “Chief,” and his mom, Marmee, CharlotteFive reported.

The menu featured handcrafted cocktails made with locally-sourced ingredients, plus a few bar-friendly snacks. Think: marinated olives and popcorn with “Tickle Your Throat” BBQ seasoning.

At Goodyear Bar, early-morning offerings will include handcrafted coffee and espresso from Night Swim Coffee, according to the release.

Lauren Long, bar and event manager for The Good Year House will lead the bar’s evening cocktail program. Customers can look forward to signature espresso, chai and matcha martinis.
