‘Juvenile’ shot by deputy in condo community along Lake Norman, NC sheriff says
A “juvenile” was shot during a late night confrontation with a deputy in the Waterstone development near Lake Norman, according to investigators in North Carolina.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. Thursday and the youth remains hospitalized, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said in a Sept. 25 news release.
“The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request from Troutman Police Department to attempt to locate a juvenile allegedly in possession of a stolen firearm at a residence on Reed Creek Drive in Sherrills Ford,” the sheriff’s office said.

“When deputies arrived, they encountered the juvenile armed with a firearm. The juvenile was shot by a deputy during that encounter. … The condition of the juvenile is unknown at this time.”
Deputies were not injured during the confrontation.
The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation has initiated an investigation of the shooting, which is standard procedure when law enforcement officers are involved in a shooting.
