Impairment ‘suspected’ in 6 am minivan crash that killed 2 people, CMPD says
Impairment and speeding may have contributed to an early morning crash that killed two people in north Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Driver Andrea Pohl Parkin, 55, and her passenger Bryson Duran Brown, 36, were pronounced dead at the scene by Medic ambulance staff, CMPD said.
The crash happened around 6 a.m. Saturday on Hucks Road near Croft Community School, in the Davis Lake-Eastfield community, police said.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located a severely damaged, overturned white 2013 Dodge Caravan,” CMPD said in an Aug. 29 news release.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that the Dodge was traveling north on Hucks Road before running off the road to the right, striking a tree, and overturning. Both speed and impairment are suspected factors in the crash for Parkin.”
