Fort Bragg warns neighbors may feel vibrations, prompting jokes on social media
Fort Bragg is warning its neighbors they may feel vibrations from explosions in coming days, and the comical reaction on social media says a lot about the people living around the iconic military facility.

“Please expect loud noises and explosions during a training taking place on the installation Aug. 18-21 and Aug. 24-28. This training involves the use of explosive noise-making materials,” Fort Bragg officials wrote in an Aug. 17 Facebook post.
“Areas … may hear the effects or feel the vibrations due to control detonations.”
Hundreds of reactions and comments have been posted on Fort Bragg’s Facebook page, many laced with a dry humor often associated with veterans.
“Love it. Been here 60 years, 10 miles from the main range and am used to it now. Only issue that hurt me was my foundation cracked top to bottom,” James Schaffer posted.

“We propose that all explosions be set to rock music,” the podcast Tactical Tangents wrote.
“I miss the sound of artillery, and the rattling of the windows,” Rita Gross said.
“Send it,” Daniel Garnett joked.
Fort Bragg is known for having some of the world’s most sophisticated weaponry and training techniques, and explosions are often associated with the training.
It is the largest U.S. Army base by population, with “48,775 active-duty soldiers, 3,597 reserve components and temporary duty students, 17,345 civilian employees and contractors and 70,109 active-duty family members,” according to Military Installations.

The fort is about a 75-mile drive southwest from downtown Raleigh.
