Drug trafficker revealed retired NC police officer was a cocaine dealer, feds say
A “disgraced former Rocky Mount cop” has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison on cocaine distribution charges, according to the Eastern District of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in North Carolina.

Linc Oshea Brooks, 56, retired from the Rocky Mount Police Department in 2006, but he was still carrying “his police shield and law enforcement ID card” when arrested in 2023, federal prosecutors say.
Witnesses linked Brooks to “large‑scale cocaine trafficking dating back to the early 2000s,” prosecutors said.
“In early 2022, DEA investigators uncovered Brooks’ connection to a cocaine trafficker in Richmond, Virginia. Later that year, another drug trafficker told agents Brooks had been selling up to 5 kilograms of cocaine at a time since 2021,” federal prosecutors said in a Sept. 18 news release.
“Investigators continued building their case, and by January 11, 2023, determined that Brooks would be driving up I‑95 to Roanoke Rapids to deliver 9 ounces of cocaine. Nash County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted him commit several traffic violations and pulled him over. During the stop, a K‑9 alerted to drugs in the car, leading deputies to discover 191 grams of cocaine. Brooks became combative at this point, forcing deputies to restrain him.”

A search of his property revealed “two digital scales with white residue, plastic baggies” and marijuana, officials said.
Brooks was charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, officials said.
The Nash County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case alongside the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Rocky Mount is about a 60-mile drive northeast from downtown Raleigh. The department has just over 150 officers, according to the Police Funding Database.
