Charlotte hotel named among the finest in the world by Michelin — again
Instead of its famous Stars, Michelin awards the world’s best hotels with Keys — and a Charlotte hotspot has once again nabbed this coveted honor.

The Ivey’s Hotel in Charlotte was awarded one Michelin Key this month, joining eight other North Carolina hotels in the worldwide guide. The nine awarded hotels in the state stretch from coastal Wilmington to the mountains of Asheville and touch the largest North Carolina cities in Raleigh, Charlotte and Greensboro.
The honor is the hotel equivalent of the Michelin stars, awarded to particularly notable restaurants — including Charlotte’s Counter- last year.
While the Michelin stars have been in place for nearly a century, honoring exceptional restaurants around the world, the Michelin Keys are practically brand new. Michelin first awarded Keys in 2024, and The Ivey’s Hotel snagged one then.
Named after former department store J.B. Ivey & Company, the Ivey’s Hotel in uptown Charlotte is a luxurious, 47-room boutique property draping in vintage artwork and custom furniture, lending a European feel.

Its second-floor Library Lounge offers a place to grab coffee and pastry by daytime and wine and cheese at night, along with a full bar. Also within the hotel, Sophia’s Lounge hosts dinner guests looking to dive into a plate of seared scallops and pork belly or settle in with steak frites. Options for late-night snacking include flatbreads and desserts.
Each room at The Ivey’s is unique, although all guests can expect luxury touches such as embroidered robes and slippers, upscale bath products and turndown service. Conference space and other business services are available, as is a 24-hour fitness center.
Michelin characterizes One-Key hotels as “very special stays,” saying on Michelin’s website: “A true gem with personality. Service always goes the extra mile, and the hotel provides much more than others in its price range.”
