It happened around 8 p.m. Monday on Mill Avenue in High Point, and the seller was also 13 years old, High Point police said in an Aug. 20 news release.

“The … victim told officers he had arranged to sell THC vape pens to people he knew. The victim said they met in a nearby parking lot. When they arrived, the victim said one of the suspects pulled out a gun and another suspect stole the vapes. The suspects ran away,” police said.

“Officers quickly identified two suspects as 13-year-old boys living in High Point. Officers filed juvenile petitions for the teenagers. One suspect’s juvenile petition is for conspiracy to commit a felony. The other suspect’s juvenile petition is for armed robbery and assault by pointing a gun.”

No one was hurt during the incident, police said.

Juvenile petitions are required to initiate a juvenile court case. “If a petition is filed, then the juvenile and his or her parent or guardian are served with the petition and a summons to appear in court,” according to N.C. Prosecutors Resource Online.

THC vape pens are “a portable cannabis consumption device that typically takes the form of a long, slender pen,” according to Green Goods Dispensary.
