Trendy coffee shop picks South End for its first NC store. When does it open?
Something new is brewing in South End Charlotte.
La La Land Kind Café, the viral coffee chain known for its signature “cloud” lattes and sunny yellow aesthetic, is plotting its first-ever Charlotte location, according to Mecklenburg County building permits viewed by CharlotteFive.

The new shop will go in at 1930 Camden Road and could open by late 2026 or early 2027, Charlotte Business Journal first reported. The space was last home to Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, which shut its doors in March.
CharlotteFive reached out to La La Land for more information on Wednesday and was awaiting a response.
Like its predecessor, La La Land was launched with a social mission at its core. The Dallas-based coffee chain offers fully paid internships to foster youth aging out of the system. The 10-week program focuses on job readiness, life skills and financial literacy, Forbes reported.
“It was like this lightning moment: What if I create the place where we not only hire and mentor those kids, but I also get to bring my love for hospitality into it?” founder Francois Reihani told the outlet in 2025.
“My passion met my purpose at that moment.”
Spreading kindness via cups of “top-quality coffee” is also a priority. That cheery aura is felt through the café’s bright white interiors and warm yellow accents.

“We chose the name La La Land because we wanted to create a dream world, a place that feels as if you’ve stepped somewhere lighter, warmer, and more hopeful,” the La La Land website says.
On the menu, coffee lovers will find hand-crafted lattes topped with sweet milk foam, plus matcha drinks and iced refreshers. The café also serves a variety of avocado toasts — like the “La La Classic” made with avocado mash, chili flakes, lemon zest and cilantro.
Customers can also shop branded merch. Think: Keychains, beanies, travel mugs, espresso martini-scented candles and more.
The South End store will be La La Land’s first in North Carolina. Since launching in 2019, the coffee chain has expanded to 30-plus locations across Texas, Los Angeles, Arizona and Nashville.
