Strangled Huntersville woman dies at hospital, police charge husband with murder
A woman strangled in her Huntersville home last month has died at a hospital, and her husband was charged with second-degree murder, police said Saturday.

Officers found 65-year-old Sandra Porter unresponsive when they responded to a call to assist paramedics in the 12000 block of McGinnis Lane just after 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22, according to a police news release. She had been assaulted, police said.
Porter was taken to a hospital, “where she remained under medical care,” police said. She died Thursday from injuries suffered in the assault, according to the department.

Police arrested 66-year-old Cody Franklin Porter Jr. and charged him at first with assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
Police have now also charged him with second-degree murder.
