Armed man roaming campus of UNC Charlotte takes student’s car, police say
A student at UNC Charlotte reports she was robbed in a parking lot near the light rail station on campus, according to UNC Charlotte’s Office of Emergency Management.

It happened around 1:10 p.m. Saturday in Lot 25, which is on the north side of campus near the intersection of Cameron Boulevard and Poplar Lane.
“The suspect brandished a firearm and demanded her car and cellphone,” campus officials said in a news release. “The student was not physically injured. The suspect then fled the campus on Cameron Blvd toward University City Blvd.”
The stolen vehicle is a 2019 blue Kia Optima, officials said.

The university warns students on foot to travel in “well-lit, well-traveled” areas, and to use Niner Transit buses for traveling across campus.
UNC Charlotte’s Main Campus in north Charlotte covers about 1,000 acres and has about 31,000 students.
