Sarah Sharp, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1400 block of Oak Breeze Drive on Friday night, Rowan sheriff’s Detective Lt. R.C. Barkley said in a news release.

Joshua Obugene, also 38, was hospitalized with gunshot wounds, Barkley said.

Deputies arrested a 27-year-old man in a nearby home. The man surrendered without incident and was jailed without bond on charges of murder and attempted first-degree murder, Barkley said.

Officers responded to the shooting just after 8:30 p.m.

“Information obtained during the initial investigation indicated the suspected shooter had fled the scene and may have been hiding in the surrounding area,” according to the sheriff’s office news release.
