Grand jury indicts man who filmed himself assaulting woman in Dilworth
A grand jury indicted the 32-year-old man who filmed himself punching a woman on a sidewalk unprovoked in Dilworth on Aug. 6, according to court records.

Di-Quan Shafar Hunt was indicted on Monday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The weapons Hunt used to assault a woman across from Paper Skyscraper, a popular gift shop, were his fists, court records said.
An assistant district attorney said at his first appearance in Mecklenburg County Superior Court on Aug. 17, Hunt’s assault was “random.”
Hunt filmed himself as he punched the woman three times after she fell to the ground. The footage, which went viral on social media, showed Hunt saying “Nah, don’t wave at me” before hitting the woman.

He punched her again and showed her face after she fell to the ground, appearing unconscious. She held a small green balloon in her hand which said “Get back on your feet soon!” The woman was transported to the hospital and suffered a concussion and brain bleed, and needed staples for a cut, court records said.
Hunt was convicted of multiple crimes in the last 10 years, court records show. That includes: probation violation, firing a gun into occupied property, breaking or entering, injury to personal property, disorderly conduct at a bus stop, assault on a government official, assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon
Mecklenburg County judges repeatedly sentenced him to time served in jail or suspended his sentences for probation, court records show.
