Swanky Brazilian steakhouse chain debuts in uptown Charlotte

Fogo de Chão, the swanky Brazilian steakhouse known for its Churrasco-fired meats, has opened its first North Carolina restaurant in uptown Charlotte.

The eatery celebrated its grand opening on Monday, Aug. 31, at 200 S. Tryon S., last home to McCormick and Schmick’s, Charlotte Business Journal first reported.

Built around the churrasco experience, cuts of high-quality proteins to are cooked over an open flame and carved tableside by Gaucho chefs. And there’s something for everyone: the house-specialty Pichana, butter-bathed lobster tail and 24-ounce ribeye steak, among other options.

There’s also the Market Table featuring specialty salads, stews, charcuterie and more, along with an all-day bar serving up Brazlian-style cocktails.

“We’re thrilled to open our first North Carolina restaurant with our new location in Charlotte,” Barry McGowan, chief executive officer of Fogo de Chão, said in the release. “It’s exciting to bring our immersive dining experience to Charlotte’s diverse and growing population.”

Weekday lunch starts at $19 and includes the Market Table and Feijoada Bar, plus family-style service of Brazilian side items. The full churrasco experience, the most popular dining option, features a pre fixe menu of classic and premium cuts of fire-roasted meats. It also includes the Market Table and Feijoada Bar.

Braziilan brunch will be available on the weekend with dishes like Belgian waffles and Bolo de Fuba, a sweet cornmeal cake topped with whipped banana creme.

Private dining space is also available, as are to-go and catering options.

“We look forward to welcoming both new guests and loyal Fogo Fans to discover the Culinary Art of Churrasco in a space that honors the rich traditions of Southern Brazil,” McGowan said.
