Crash closes Interstate 85 lanes in Charlotte for hours. ‘Traffic impact high.’

A crash closed three of the four lanes on southbound Interstate 85 in Charlotte on Saturday morning, state highway officials said.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. just south of the W.T. Harris Boulevard interchange, according to DriveNC.gov, the state’s real-time traffic information site.

“Expected impact to traffic is High,” according to the site.

The highway is expected to stay closed until 11 a.m., officials said.

Police have released no details about the crash.
