Woman demanded $4,000, or she would claim man engaged with girls, NC police say
An 18-year-old North Carolina woman threatened to fabricate child molestation accusations if a man didn’t give her cash, according to police in Huntersville.

The demand was made Sunday, Aug. 23, and resulted in the woman being arrested the next day on a charge of felony extortion, an arrest warrant reports.
The suspect lives in the Mooresville area of Iredell County and does not have a criminal history.
A warrant reports the woman demanded the victim pay her $4,000 or “she would make a false police report of him engaging with underage girls.”

The woman was released on $20,000 bond, and ordered to have no further contact with the victim, records show. Investigators did not release details of how the suspect and victim were acquainted.
Extortion is a Class F felony and convictions can result in a prison sentence of 1 to 5 years, depending on the severity of the offense and the defendant’s criminal history, according to Criminaldefenselawyer.com.
