DiQuan Shafar Hunt, a homeless 32-year-old, sent the woman to the hospital with a concussion and brain bleed after he repeatedly punched her across the street from a popular neighborhood gift shop, Paper Skyscraper, on Aug. 6. After the woman fell to the ground, Hunt punched her three more times, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report filed in Mecklenburg District Court Friday.
His fists, court records say, were deadly weapons.
He is being held on no bond and is due in court Monday morning, where a judge will decide a bond amount.
Arrest warrants filed Friday also charge Hunt with breaking into Extra Space Storage on South Boulevard and damaging surveillance cameras and a glass door on July 3. The charges are tacked on to a list of 22 criminal charges he has faced in the last 14 years.
Court records show that in the last 10 years, Hunt has been convicted of: probation violation, firing a gun into occupied property, breaking or entering, injury to personal property, disorderly conduct at a bus stop, assault on a government official, assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Mecklenburg County judges always sentenced him to time served in jail or suspended his sentences for probation, court records show.
Hunt posted video of the Aug. 6 assault — and others around Charlotte South End area — to his Instagram account. The footage of the Dilworth attack shows Hunt said “Nah, don’t wave at me,” before hitting the woman.
He then punched her again and showed her face as she fell to the ground and appeared to fall unconscious. In her hand, she held a small green balloon.
