A new rooftop restaurant & cocktail lounge will offer views overlooking Concord

Rooftop views paired with handcrafted cocktails are coming to Concord.

The Union Sky, a new rooftop restaurant and cocktail lounge, is set to open in August or September at NOVI Lofts, a seven-story building with 89 luxury units in downtown Concord.

Krushani Patel envisions the 2,062-square-foot restaurant with a 1,023-square-foot patio overlooking the city to be a relaxed but upscale gathering space for residents who would otherwise head to Charlotte for a night out or a special occasion.

“You get a new view everywhere you go,” she said in a recent video previewing the space with Mayor Steve Morris.

When guests settle into a table to grab a bite, they can expect bar food, along with pasta, burgers, flatbread pizzas and dessert, she said.

“As local business owners, we’re passionate about investing in downtown Concord and creating unique experiences that contribute to the city’s continued growth and vibrant culture,” Patel said in a news release.

“The Union Sky is about honoring where this community has been while giving people a new and, quite literally, elevated way to experience it,” she added.

Patel also owns Red Chillez Indian Restaurant and Kiddie Academy of Harrisburg with her husband, Ronak Patel.

Steven Tice, the principal at Mortice Commercial Real Estate who negotiated the transaction, said in the release that a rooftop venue in Concord has been talked about for years. Now, it’s coming to life.

“Having had the opportunity to help bring this concept to life, seeing Krushani and Ronak reach this milestone is especially rewarding,” he said in the release.

“The Patels are creating something truly unique for Concord, and I believe The Union Sky will become a destination that draws people from across the region while giving local residents a place they’ll be proud to call their own.”

The NOVI building will also be home to 1122 Coffee Company, a ground-level coffee shop owned by WNBA player Kayla McBride and her sister, Karlee McBride-Webber.
