Former Panthers leader buys Charlotte suburb’s priciest home for a record $4.4M

The Rock Hill region closed its first home sale for more than $4 million this summer. Now it’s just a question of how long that record will last in this part of the Charlotte suburbs.

Austin and Madison Corbett bought the home on New Gray Rock Road in Fort Mill on July 15 for nearly $4.4 million. Austin Corbett is a former Carolina Panther who signed this offseason with the Buffalo Bills. Corbett, who was the Panthers’ starting guard and also played center, is entering his 10th NFL season. He attended the University of Nevada, where wife Madison played volleyball.

In June 2025, the veteran lineman told The Charlotte Observer how much he enjoyed playing for the Panthers, especially with Dave Canales in charge as head coach. “From just the family side, we absolutely love it here — we’re going to live here long term,” Corbett added.

That much remains clear after the Corbetts’ purchased the Fort Mill purchase home. Their new home includes nearly 4 acres near Baxter.

In April, that property was under contract for a record-breaking amount, The Herald reported at the time. A week later, a Rock Hill home on Faires Road went on the market for $5.3 million. It’s still listed for sale, online real estate sites show.

Area real estate has moved steadily higher in recent years.

In July, there were four Rock Hill-region homes that sold for $2 million or more. That’s tied with last September for the second most sales at that price point in any month, behind only May of last year.

It isn’t just one spot, either.

Last month’s sales at $2 million or more came in Fort Mill, Lake Wylie, Tega Cay and Indian Land. Two prior sales this year to top $2 million came in Rock Hill and Lake Wylie.

Prior to last month, the home sale record was $3.9 million for an Indian Land property in December. But that site was an investment in the 50 acres surrounding the home. The prior three-county record for a luxury home sale in Lancaster, Chester or York counties was a 2023 River Oaks Road home in Lake Wylie that went for $3.7 million.

The Fort Mill record was a Bessbrook Road home near the North Carolina line, on Lake Wylie, that sold two years ago for $3.4 million.

There were 28 homes across the Rock Hill region that sold in July for $1 million or more.

The Rock Hill region also had its share of commercial property sales to top $1 million in July. Take a look at the list.
