This local hospital’s beef broth is so good, people asked how to get it at home
When something hits, it hits. And, now, the secret is out on where to get a taste of the latest flavor craze to hit in the Charlotte area — a rich, savory beef broth.

But it’s not available just anywhere. You can’t walk right in and buy it, either.
The particular beef broth in question is a little more elusive.
“This is probably a weird ask,” teacher Kim Callicutt posted in the Fort Mill Eats for Fort Mill Eaters Facebook group. “But I recently had surgery at Piedmont in Fort Mill. I was put on a liquid diet after surgery and was given the best beef broth I have ever had. Legit tasted like a roast beef.”
From there, the conversation exploded, drawing responses from interested eaters — or sippers, as the case may be — from around the area.
“Now I want beef broth that tastes like roast beef!” Lindi Marie said.
“Me, too!” Geri Gaskill and Kay Nolette both wrote.
Susan Gunderson chimed in, noting that she’d had the same broth there. “It was delicious! I would love to know too!”
The humor of the situation wasn’t lost on anyone, either. (We could all use a little more laughter and light in our life, right?)
“I think this is hilarious. Could it be the best beef broth ever or just the fact that you were deprived for so long?,” Paige Elliott questioned.
“I never thought a broth would have me in such a choke hold,” Callicutt said.
Coming in hot to the rescue, Piedmont Fort Mill dietitian Courtney Taylor dropped into the chat to solidify that those on the hunt were on the right track.
“Someone already shared what we use but wanted to confirm for you — all of our broths are made from Savory Choice liquid broth concentrates,” she wrote.

And the commenters rejoiced!
“Thank you for sharing this. Getting ready for a procedure (that I will not name) and this is very helpful!” Joey Untz Moore posted.
“Thank you for confirming this information! I was praying what I was told was right! It’s the best stuff!” Teri Carpenter Taylor shared.
Ellen Bonfiglio added: “I think we may all have to buy this.”
CharlotteFive reached out to Taylor for more information but hasn’t heard back yet.
In the meantime, for the curious, the ingredients in that talk-of-the-town broth are listed as: beef stock, salt, sugar, beef fat, maltodextrin, natural flavor, yeast extract and xanthan gum.
While the product is mostly produced for food service environments, it is available for sale at Amazon and Walmart, leading consumers on the hunt for that flavor to a happy ending.
“I’ve already bought some on Amazon! It was seriously top tier!” Callicutt said before thanking Taylor.
Callicutt told CharlotteFive that it didn’t quite taste the same, though, despite following package directions.
“I think the one cup of water might have been too much. I will have to experiment,” she said. “It’s not bad, just not the same.”
