It happened Monday night at a home on Emily Lane near Oxford, about a 50-mile drive north from downtown Raleigh.

One person died, and three others suffered minor injuries, the Granville County Sheriff’s Office said in a June 23 news release.

“The preliminary information indicates that, around 10:17 p.m., multiple subjects who earlier were engaged in a verbal argument, exchanged gunfire,” the sheriff’s office said

“Deputies quickly responded controlled and cleared the scene and began to provide lifesaving care for the gunshot victim, who despite their efforts succumbed to his injuries. … Three other individuals at the scene also were injured in the incident but did not require medical attention.”
