The owners of 2637 Worldreach Dr. applied to rezone the property off Charlotte Highway for a 7 Brew coffee shop. The company has a deep menu of cinnamon roll, cookie butter, banana bread, toasted marshmallow and other flavored cold drinks. It also has sodas, energy drinks, teas, smoothies and shakes.

The closest of 12 South Carolina sites for the company are in Greer and Columbia. North Carolina has 16 sites, but the closest are in Shelby, Albemarle and Denver.

The project could still take some time. The county Planning Commission will review the rezoning request next week. Lancaster County Council will have to vote three times to approve it.

If the project moves forward, there’s reason to think it could be popular. The Indian Land site is near where Swig opened last summer, backing up traffic along Charlotte Highway for weeks as drivers flocked to the first area location for that company. Many of them were younger customers who’d found Swig on TikTok.

Something similar is happening right now in Rock Hill.

Dutch Bros Coffee opened at the end of March on Celanese Road, and traffic has been backed up to get into it. Like Swig, that Dutch Bros opening brought the first area location for that company.

7 Brew began in Arkansas in 2017. The company began franchising in 2021, and opened its 100th site in 2023. By last year there were 500.
