Family gunfight at 12:30 am sent bullets into nearby homes, Huntersville police say

A family brawl turned terrifying for the rest of the neighborhood when two men pulled guns and started shooting, according to Huntersville police.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 14100 block of Magnolia Walk Drive, and investigators later discovered bullet holes in some nearby homes, police said in a June 10 news release.

No injuries have been reported, police said.

“Upon arrival, officers determined that an earlier domestic violence incident and physical fight had broken out at the home among several individuals,” police said.

“During the altercation, two of the suspects produced firearms and opened fire at the other involved individuals who were attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle. Multiple rounds struck the victims’ vehicle. Additionally, stray bullets struck two nearby occupied homes.”

Three men were arrested, and court records show two lived at a home in the 14100 block of Magnolia Walk Drive. The suspects include:

Demontaye Sturdivant, 20, is charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and shooting into an occupied vehicle, police said.

Dominikus Sturdivant, 25, is charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and shooting into an occupied vehicle, police said.

Rodney Miller, 20, is charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a female, and misdemeanor domestic violence, police said.
