A beloved Charlotte-area breakfast chain has closed for good in Dilworth.<\/p>\n

Famous Toastery<\/a><\/b>, known for its scratch-made breakfast and lunch offerings, is leaving The Courtyard strip mall<\/a> after 15 years, the Charlotte Business Journal first reported.<\/p>\n

The eatery served it last customers on Sunday, May 24.<\/p>\n

The Dilworth restaurant was still listed on Famous Toastery\u2019s website as of Friday, May 29, but a Google listing showed it as \u201cpermanently closed.\u201d<\/a> CharlotteFive reached out to the chain\u2019s corporate office for more information and was awaiting a response.<\/p>\n

In a farewell message shared on Instagram, management thanked the Dilworth community<\/a> for its years of support without mentioning the reason for the closure.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur number one goal is always to genuinely care about the people who walk through our doors, and the people who choose to call themselves Famous Toastery teammates,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Robert Maynard, owner and co-founder of the all-day breakfast chain, told the Charlotte Business Journal his decision not to renew the restaurant\u2019s lease at The Courtyard came after analyzing how its other locations were doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re seeing a shift and having a lot of success outside of the main Charlotte core,\u201d Maynard told the news outlet. \u201cI don\u2019t look at this as a negative thing. We just decided it was time to move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

So far, it\u2019s not clear will take over the sprawling 4,500 square-foot space.<\/p>\n

The closure comes eight months after Famous Toasty also shuttered its restaurant in Tega Cay,<\/a> South Carolina, citing a \u201creset\u201d of its core market area that includes North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re expanding nationally right now,\u201d Lorna Martinez, vice president of marketing for the brand, told CharlotteFive at the time, noting its plans to add locations in Texas and Arizona.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we\u2019re just making sure we know what makes sense for us\u201d as a brand.<\/p>\n

Breakfast lovers, don\u2019t fret. Famous Toastery still has plenty of Charlotte-area restaurants to grab a bite, including spots in Ballantyne, uptown, University City, Concord, Belmont, Davidson, Huntersville and Indian Land, South Carolina.<\/p>\n
