Restaurateurs chef Joe and Katy Kindred have a new downtown Mooresville restaurant in the works, they announced via Instagram<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The new spot \u2014 called Deepwell<\/a> \u2014 is opening in partnership with Craig Deihl<\/a>, the Kindred Restaurants corporate chef who is known as a \u201ccharcuterie king\u201d<\/a> and will serve as executive chef and co-owner.<\/p>\n

The Charlotte-area food-and-drink powerhouses with James Beard and Michelin recognition are also making repairs to their namesake Davidson restaurant, Kindred<\/a>, after a small fire led to water damage. The estimated timeline for reopening is about 12 weeks, roughly when Deepwell is set to open, Katy Kindred said in the video.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of crazy that you know we\u2019re opening a restaurant on Main Street, and it\u2019s very similar layout. It\u2019s in an old historic building,\u201d Joe Kindred said.<\/p>\n

Deepwell plans call for partnering with North Carolina\u2019s W8 Ranch,<\/a> which grows Wagyu beef, and dry-aging the meat.<\/p>\n

The name is likely a nod to early settlers in the Mooresville area who grew together into a community known as \u201cDeep Well,\u201d<\/a> which took its name from a large natural well in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be sort of a New Orleans steakhouse, if you can imagine that,\u201d Katy Kindred said.<\/p>\n

Diners can also expect the Kindred touch on the restaurant\u2019s interior, most recently seen at Albertine in uptown Charlotte. That restaurant features luxe touches of marble, velvet and original artwork.<\/p>\n

\u201cKatie has absolutely crushed the design,\u201d Joe Kindred said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to serve you both here at Kindred and at Deepwell. And just for all of you who have reached out to support over the past few weeks, you literally have gotten us through this time,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of highs and lows, and lots of weird emotions, and, you know, crazy things happening. But the greater Charlotte community, the Lake Norman community, all the restauranteurs, the farmers, the people that have reached out, the chefs around the country that have reached out \u2014 it doesn\u2019t go unnoticed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re just so thankful for you, and you know, a time like this is truly defining of a restaurant group. And what better community could we have in the greater Charlotte area to support us, so we\u2019re so thankful for you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n
