Department of Transportation reports crews are \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncdot.gov\/news\/press-releases\/Pages\/2026\/2026-06-26-ncdot-storm-repair.aspx\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\">addressing several damaged sites<\/a>\u201d on U.S. 74A near the Buncombe-Henderson county line. Meanwhile, secondary roads in the area continue to be impacted by flooding, due to draining pipes being overwhelmed, state officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Henderson County Emergency Management reports just over eight miles of U.S. 74 was closed Tuesday morning, from the Buncombe County line to Bat Cave.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have encountered a landslide, sinkhole, and roadway flooding,\u201d Henderson County officials said in a social media post. \u201cCrews are actively addressing these issues, and temporary roads are being set up to help drivers safely detour around high water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/charlotterelocationguide.com\/?p=718\">Journalism veteran to lead Charlotte Observer newsroom<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Details of the landslide location were not released.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters responding to a downed tree discovered the sinkhole by chance, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid02DEmKg5wEG71YGtdSrUmKS1HbpVTo1UdfTBh3SuoreEDMhnsmCvSroRnQVbpUa5xfl&amp;id=100064495942487\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\"> Fairview Volunteer Fire Department<\/a> in Buncombe County reported in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they were returning they noticed the road was starting to cave away.
