{"id":698,"date":"2026-05-26T10:04:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T10:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/charlotterelocationguide.com\/?p=698"},"modified":"2026-05-26T10:04:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T10:04:54","slug":"arrest-made-in-notorious-2008-killings-at-concord-sun-drop-plant-nc-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/charlotterelocationguide.com\/?p=698","title":{"rendered":"Arrest made in notorious 2008 killings at Concord Sun Drop plant, NC police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A suspect in the notorious<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ConcordNCPolice\/posts\/pfbid02nL8eTyQJMYtUBppb5ZMa4QmiCXgeNYxTc6iWr2VpkzPv1xBK3oz5y7eJ7d1oXUG1l\" rel=\"Follow\" target=\"_blank\"> 2008 double homicide<\/a> at Concord\u2019s Sun Drop Bottling Company has been captured nearly 3,000 miles away, in Washington state, according to police in North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/charlotterelocationguide.com\/?p=696\">Uber appeals Charlotte jury\u2019s verdict deciding it owed money to assaulted rider<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Johnny Steven Talbert, 43, was arrested Thursday at Port Angeles, Washington, on warrants for two counts of first-degree murder, and one count of robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapon, Concord police said in a May 25 news release.<\/p>\n<p>He is being held without bail as a \u201cfugitive from justice\u2019 in the Clallam County Jail in Washington State, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators suspect Talbert killed 59-year-old Donna Barnhardt and 44-year-old Darrell Noles during a robbery at the plant, which is about a 25-mile drive northeast from uptown Charlotte.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt approximately 10 a.m. on June 13, 2008, officers with the Concord PD responded to a reported shooting inside the Sun Drop Bottling Company, located at 360 Old-Salisbury Concord Road,\u201d Concord police said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers located two gunshot wound victims. &#8230; deceased at the scene. An employee working in a different part of the plant heard the shots and called police after finding the victims.<\/p>\n<p>A man was seen fleeing the scene on foot, and a composite sketch was developed.<\/p>\n<p>However, it wasn\u2019t until late 2025 that \u201cdetectives uncovered critical information that ultimately led to Talbert\u2019s arrest,\u201d police said. Investigators say that break came by a reexamination of evidence and undeveloped leads.<\/p>\n<p>Concord police contacted Port Angeles police in December, resulting in Talbert being located, officials said.
