Stein worked to help one of Cunningham\u2019s primary opponents defeat her, with a rare endorsement. Governors generally don\u2019t endorse against incumbents, but it has become more of the norm since former Gov. <b>Roy Cooper<\/b> did so with his fellow Democrats who had broken from the party bloc for some key legislative votes.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate is also expected to override Stein\u2019s veto of HB 87, which would overturn the governor\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Cunningham and Majeed also were the key votes Republicans needed to achieve a three-fifths supermajority of votes required to pass a constitutional amendment.
