Corey Day will be manning the wheel of the No. 7 Hendricks.com Patriotic Chevrolet<\/a> on Friday during NASCAR\u2019s Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old driver was announced as the late Kyle Busch\u2019s replacement driver<\/a> prior to the NASCAR legend\u2019s death<\/a> on Thursday. Spire Motorsports announced the change after Busch\u2019s family<\/a> released a statement that Busch had been hospitalized with a severe illness on Thursday morning. The family, in a joint statement with Richard Childress Racing, announced Busch\u2019s death roughly seven hours later<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With Day taking Busch\u2019s place in the Truck Series, Austin Hill will take the wheel as Busch\u2019s replacement in the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Day, though, will be the first to hit the track as NASCAR\u2019s big weekend in Charlotte begins with the racing community mourning one of its icons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Day, a Clovis, California, native, won\u2019t turn 21 until November. But he\u2019s already posted two career wins, including the 2026 BetRivers 200 in Dover, Delaware last week.<\/p>\n

Day is part of the Hendricks Motorsports team. He runs full-time in the NASCAR O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts Series races this season, and through 14 starts, he\u2019s notched two wins, 10 top-10 finishes and five top-five finishes. That output places him fourth in the O\u2019Reilly points standings.<\/p>\n

He drives the Hendrick Motorsports\u2019 No. 17 Chevrolet in the O\u2019Reilly Series, the organization\u2019s first full-time O\u2019Reilly Series entry in 20 years.<\/p>\n

His Truck Series experience is 13 starts \u2014 nine in 2025 and four in 2024. His average overall finish is 17.1. He led three Truck Series laps in 2025. He has never won a truck race.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will take place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The race will be shown on FOX Sports 1 and the NASCAR Racing Network. It\u2019ll also be broadcast on SiriusXM.<\/p>\n
